Deadline was Jan. 11, 2012. Intake is closed for Sept. 2012. We have now processed all of the applications and are proceeding to the second stage of the application process. We received over 450 applications. All of the applications were wonderful to read and it is clear that the students put a lot of hard work into completing the requirements. After careful consideration we have invited 250 to write the admissions test on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. We will use the results of the test to determine those students who will be offered a placement in our GFSS Pre IB Programme. We can only accept 116 students. You should all be very proud of yourselves for all of the hard work and perseverance that it took for you to put together your application. As T.S. Elliot said: “Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”. Thank you for your interest in the IB programme. Best of luck in your future education. It is a requirement of the I.B. Diploma Programme that students complete 150 hours of C.A.S. activities. Students can begin acquiring their C.A.S. hours during the summer after they have completed grade 10 and have been accepted into the I.B. programme. The 150 hours should be roughly evenly divided between the three components: creative pursuits, physical pursuits and service oriented pursuits. Before beginning on an activity, the student should have the proposal for the activity approved by his/her mentor. Keep in mind that activities should have some sustainability outcomes. It is also mandatory for students graduating in 2010 and beyond to be involved with a group to plan and implement an activity.
