Pre IB Gr. 9 Applications

PRE IB Gr. 9 Applications. Deadline was Jan. 11, 2012. Intake is closed for Sept. 2012. We have now processed all of the applications and are proceeding to the second stage of the application process. We received over 450 applications. All of the applications were wonderful to read and it is clear that the students put a lot of hard work into completing the requirements. After careful consideration we have invited 250 to write the admissions test on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. We will use the results of the test to determine those students who will be offered a placement in our GFSS Pre IB Programme. We can only accept 116 students. You should all be very proud of yourselves for all of the hard work and perseverance that it took for you to put together your application. As T.S. Elliot said: “Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”. Thank you for your interest in the IB programme. Best of luck in your future education. Ms. Habib, IB Coordinator

28 October 2008 marks 40 years since the official founding of the IB Organization in 1968.

"The International Baccalaureate was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a non-profit educational foundation.

A group of talented, forward thinking teachers at the International School of Geneva, with assistance from several other international schools, created the IB Diploma Programme. What started life as a single programme for internationally mobile students preparing for university, has today grown into three programmes for students aged 3-19.

The programme in the early days consisted of a common pre-university curriculum and a common set of external examinations for students in schools throughout the world, seeking to provide students with a truly international education. Although the first IB schools were predominantly private international schools, they included a very small number of private national institutions and schools belonging to state education departments. This has changed over the years and today over half of all IB World Schools (authorized to offer one or more of our programmes), are state schools.

Although the first IB schools were predominantly private international schools, today over half of all IB World Schools are state schools. Carrying forward the ideals and dreams of the IB founders, the organisation exists to provide high quality education for a better word, as expressed in our mission statement.

IB Programmes continue to encourage this international mindedness in students and educators through the IB Learner Profile a set of values that represent our mission and principles."
