WHAT IS THE SCHOOL COUNCIL? The Glenforest School Council is an informal group of parents, school staff, and students who gather the 2nd Wednesday of every month (with the exception of December, March, and June) at 7:00 p.m. to discuss what is happening at our school.
Education is a joint venture between teachers, administrative staff, students, and parents. It is imperative that we as parents have as much information as possible to do our part to encourage our children in their education. By meeting to share information, thoughts, and ideas, the school council as a group can identify issues within the school environment and work together to develop strategies and solutions to enhance the development and experiences of all people in the Glenforest community.
Officially under the Ontario Education Act, each school in Ontario is required to have a School Council, comprised of:
:: Principal of the school
:: 1 teaching staff member
:: 1 non-teaching staff member
:: 1 student representative (secondary schools)
:: 1 community member
:: Parents - enough to form the majority of the council
