Student of the Month

Daniel Li competed in the ECOO and Canadian Computing Competitions this semester and then entered two programs separately in the Canada-wide University of Toronto Showcase Computer Science Fair 2011. Despite being nation-wide, his submissions were so good that they were as 2 of the 15 finalists at this year's competition on Saturday April 16. One submission was a website management system and the other was a portable bird watching guide. This is one amazing young man.

All busing students, please take notice to this reminder.

Students who want to ride home on a friend's bus must submit their request in writing 24 hours prior to departure and must have a note from a parent to the Glenforest administration which grants their permission to ride on a different bus. A letter to the bus driver will then be issued by a school administrator to the student who submitted the request.

White Pine Club

The Glenforest Resource Centre is excited to announce the
launch of the 2011 - 2012 White Pine Reading Club !

White Pine is a part of the Forest of Reading initiative, sponsored by the Ontario Library Association (OLA) which offers seven reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. Almost 250,000 readers participate annually from their school and/or public library. All Ontarians/Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.

We now have over 15 teachers participating and more than 40 students signed up. As soon as the books arrive, we will have a launch party. Stay tuned for more information.
